Yes. You, and everyone else, needs a will to tell the courts who they wish to pass their possessions too. Even if you do not have a lot, you still have things of value and personal importance – whether it is a car, clothing, or jewelry. The whole point of a will is to clearly lay out to whom you want your possessions to go to after you pass away. Without a will, there is no way for Probate court officials to know or respect your preferences, and your wealth, assets, or belongings could go to those you do not want them to, like an estranged child, or ex-spouse.
